Biography of Vice Governor Anecita Diana C. Apigo-Tayag

Position: Vice Governor, Province of Occidental Mindoro
Term: Second Term (2025–2028)
Assumed Office: June 30, 2025

Anecita Diana C. Apigo-Tayag is the incumbent Vice Governor of Occidental Mindoro, currently serving her second term following the local elections held on May 12, 2025. She officially assumed office on June 30, 2025, continuing her commitment to responsive and principled public service.

As regular Presiding Officer of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Vice Governor Apigo-Tayag plays a vital role in the province’s legislative governance. She facilitates legislative deliberations, ensures orderly proceedings, and steers the enactment of policies that uphold the welfare, development, and best interests of the Mindoreño people.

Her leadership is characterized by professionalism, inclusivity, and adherence to the principles of good governance, strengthening the legislative arm’s contribution to provincial development.

Powers and Duties of the Vice Governor

In accordance with Section 466, Article II of Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, the Vice Governor exercises the following powers and duties:

  • Serve as Presiding Officer of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan

  • Sign warrants drawn on the provincial treasury for expenditures appropriated for the operations of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan

  • Appoint officials and employees of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, subject to civil service laws, rules, and regulations, except where the manner of appointment is specifically provided by law

  • Assume the office of the Governor for the unexpired term in cases of permanent vacancy, pursuant to Section 44, Book I of the Code

  • Exercise the powers and perform the duties of the Governor in cases of temporary vacancy, as provided under Section 46, Book I of the Code

  • Perform such other powers, duties, and functions as may be prescribed by law or ordinance
