Aligned with the vision of Governor Eduardo B. Gadiano, the Provincial Government of Occidental Mindoro implemented strategic initiatives in 2025 to further strengthen and promote the province’s tourism sector through the programs of the Provincial Tourism Office.
Among the notable accomplishments was the enhancement of tourism promotion and marketing efforts, which included the production and distribution of brochures and flyers, as well as the development and dissemination of promotional videos highlighting the province’s diverse tourist attractions. These initiatives were complemented by the continued operation of Tourist Information Counters at San Jose Airport and the Port of Abra de Ilog, which play a crucial role in assisting visitors by providing timely and accessible information.
Further strengthening tourism promotion, the Provincial Tourism Office aired the Ganadong Turismo radio program through a local broadcasting station. This program served as an effective platform for disseminating information on tourism programs and activities, increasing public awareness, and fostering stakeholder engagement. Collectively, these efforts contributed to creating a positive first impression for visitors, improving access to tourism- related information, supporting local enterprises, and enhancing overall visitor satisfaction, which subsequently contributed to increased tourism revenue.
In addition, the province actively participated in various tourism promotion activities in collaboration with national government agencies and private sector organizations. These included major trade fairs such as OBRA MIMAROPA 2025, where local products and tourism offerings were showcased alongside cultural presentations by the Ganadong Indakan Dance Troupe. The Provincial Tourism Office also took part in the 36th Philippine Travel Mart 2025, featuring Mangyan-made handicrafts and products from local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Participation in the Philippine Travel Agencies Association events further expanded market exposure, engaging both national and international travel agencies, including those from Southeast Asia.
These engagements provided valuable platforms for market development and tourism promotion. The province also highlighted its cultural heritage through the celebration of key events such as the Arawatan Festival 2025, which showcased the rich culture, creativity, and unity of the Mindoreños through tourism-related activities, pageantry, sports, and cultural performances. Similarly, the observance of World Tourism Day 2025 emphasized sustainable tourism practices through activities such as coastal clean-up initiatives and the Sayaw para sa Likas Kayang Turismo Dance Competition.
Alongside promotional activities, the Provincial Government invested in strengthening local tourism development through capacity and capability-building programs for tourism stakeholders. These included the conduct of a Tourism Convergence Workshop, Carrying Capacity Assessment for tourism sites, and Product Computation and Service Standards Training. The Provincial Tourism Office likewise reinforced the accreditation system for tourism enterprises and intensified information and education campaigns on tourism quality standards through province-wide Department of Tourism (DOT) Accreditation Monitoring and Inspection.
As a result of these initiatives and accomplishments in 2025, Occidental Mindoro continues to move toward a more vibrant and resilient tourism sector—one that balances economic growth with environmental protection, supports local communities, and promotes sustainable tourism development.
