The Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE) Division

The Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE) Division has demonstrated efficient and results-oriented implementation of its programs and activities through the effective utilization of ₱3,402,919.99 funds. These resources were strategically directed toward infrastructure development, farm mechanization, data-driven planning, and inclusive capacity-building—significantly strengthening the province’s agricultural productivity and resilience.

The fund supported a range of activities including the monitoring and evaluation of Farm-to-Market Roads (FMRs), farm machinery, rice nurseries, and other agricultural infrastructures in different municipalities across the province. In addition, through on-site validation and engineering surveys, the ABE Division ensured that FMRs, post-harvest facilities, farm bridges, solar seaweed dryer sites, and multi-purpose drying pavements across the province were properly assessed, compliant with standards, and aligned with actual field conditions.

These activities helped guarantee the quality, safety, and sustainability of agricultural infrastructure investments. The ABE Division also led the preparation of Detailed Engineering Designs (DEDs) and Programs of Works (POWs) for key agricultural facilities, including dehydration facility, agricultural nursery, solar seaweed dryer facility, and vermi-composting facility. These technical outputs serve as essential prerequisites for project implementation—ensuring that agricultural projects are technically sound, cost-efficient, and implementation-ready.

ABE Division also provided technical assistance to 59 farmer associations, MAOs, and ABE focal persons across various municipalities. This support focused on the RCEF Mechanization Program enhancing local capacity to operate, maintain, and maximize the benefits of modern agricultural technologies. These efforts directly contribute to reduced post-harvest losses, improved farm efficiency, and increased farmer incomes.

Recognizing the importance of inclusivity, the Division also conducted gender sensitization sessions to promote women’s participation in mechanized farming. This was further reinforced through hands-on activities such as the conduct of rice seedling preparation using both mechanical and manual seeders, and the provision of automatic mechanical seeders to women farmer associations. These initiatives empowered women farmers with technical skills, reduced labor intensity, and enabled them to actively engage in modern, technology-driven agricultural practices.

These programs have generated wide-ranging impacts in modernizing agriculture, improving rural livelihoods, and supporting inclusive and sustainable provincial development.
